I’m always fascinated by what truths make the media and what truths do not. All media edit stories to support their ideological perspectives, whether it be the New York Times or Fox News. There simply is no such thing as “objective” reality in media.

This is especially true for media with a specific, ideological agendas.

Christianity Today is a case in point. The magazine for today’s Christians recently interviewed out gay director Brian Singer about his new movie Superman without once mentioning Singer’s sexuality.

The interview entitled, The ‘Savior’ Returns: Bryan Singer, director of the highly anticipated Superman Returns, says it makes sense to compare his protagonist to Jesus because, after all, “Superman is a savior”, goes into great depth about Singer’s Jewish-ness, spirituality and the mythological relationship between Superman and Jesus but somehow fails to mention Singer’s personal life as a gay man or that, for many, Superman is a gay icon.
